Fabric Structures as Barge and Marine Refit Enclosures

Fabric structures from Big Top can provide shelters for barge and marine refit enclosures. Your technicians will be able to work comfortably out of the sun and rain under one of our fabric buildings. In fact, our fabric is engineered to block 99.95 percent of UV-A and UV-B radiation. Plus, it’s rip-resistant and supported by an industrial-strength, galvanized steel frame, so your vessel and equipment will be protected from inclement weather. Additionally, our high-performance fabric provides:

  • Natural light – The translucent nature of our fabric allows in plenty of sunlight to eliminate the need for artificial lighting, which can reduce your energy usage.
  • Protection – Our fabric is NFPA-701 flame retardant and will not catch fire should an accident occur.
  • Comfortable working conditions – The climate inside one of our fabric structures is on average 15 degrees cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter the outside temperature.

Big Top’s fabric structures are custom built to size and are long enough to cover wet slips and dry docks and tall enough to accommodate the largest vessels. For extra height, they can be anchored to stacked shipping containers. Due to their modular design, they can also be relocated around your shipyard using a crane or engineered for telescopic maneuvering with a crane rail.

Furthermore, our fabric structures provide containment for blasting and painting and can be outfitted with numerous add-ons to meet the needs of your refit enclosure. For instance, we can include doors, ventilation, lightning protection, and more. And, because you can claim our structures as equipment with the IRS, you may be able to benefit from tax savings.

Big Top’s fabric structures have been used as barge and marine refit enclosures at shipyards all over the world. For more information about how we can custom build a shelter for your needs, contact us today.
