Fabric Structures for Data Centers
Deployed Nearly Anywhere
Storing a huge computer network requires a lot of space. That’s why data centers are often constructed in remote locations like farmland and other sparsely populated areas. Because Big Top’s fabric structures do not require a concrete pad as a foundation, they can be anchored to nearly anything, even dirt and asphalt. Additionally, our shelters can range in size from 20 to 174 feet wide and nearly any length, providing plenty of interior space for computer storage with no guy wires or internal columns getting in the way.
Protection From the Elements
Our temporary buildings are supported by an industrial-grade galvanized steel frame, which holds strong through nearly any type of weather. They can also be engineered for heavy wind and snow loads, and equipped with lightning protection. The other protective benefit comes from the fabric cover, which is formulated to repel 99.95% UV-A and UV-B radiation, shielding both equipment and staff from sun exposure.
Naturally Cool Interiors
Thanks to the exceptional thermal performance of the fabric cover, our shelters remain at a comfortable temperature that is, on average, 15 degrees cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter than the temperature outside. This helps to keep data centers, which are notoriously warm due to the energy produced by the computers, naturally cool. To further cool the interior space down, Big Top can install HVAC systems and insulation.
Energy Efficient
Server farms are also notoriously energy hungry. Offset some of your carbon footprint with a Big Top fabric structure—the fabric cover is translucent and allows sunlight to fully illuminate the interior space without aid from an electric lighting system.
Cost Effective
Big Top’s fabric structures are an affordable solution for data centers, especially when compared to constructing a permanent building. They require few materials, can be erected at a rate of 2,500 square feet per day, and do not require an outside contractor to install. In fact, Big Top offers turnkey installation services to make deployment as easy as possible. And if you deem the building as equipment with the IRS, you may enjoy some tax benefits.
Movability
The need for data centers is only going to grow. Fortunately, the modular nature of our temporary buildings means they can grow with you. Plus, should you ever need to move the shelter, you can do so intact with a crane. It can also be disassembled and shipped to a new location if needed.
